What You Will Do:

Guidehouse is seeking an Journeyman Data Scientist to join our AI and Data Defense and Security team. The individual will develop data collection and process automation solutions, collect and analyze data to identify trends, develop visualizations in support of organizational and mission goals, and support decision-making for large-scale programs within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading design and development of process improvement and automation applications using tools such as Power Automate and PowerApps
  • Leading design and development of data visualization and dashboard solutions to provide required analytics insights using tools such as Power BI
  • Leading and reviewing, data cleaning scripts using tools such as R
  • Authoring SQL queries to extract tables
  • Identifying and creating additional data visualization capabilities, as needed
  • Ensuring data governance and quality assurance standards are met
  • Analyzing current process and identifying potential improvements
  • Working with team members to summarize and report on business process improvements to include gaps in current processes and initiatives to improve processes for an organization
  • Organizing and leading client meetings, including scheduling meetings; drafting and delivering agendas and meeting minutes; providing and archiving required documentation; and documenting, tracking, and following-up on action items
  • Summarizing and presenting information and reports to the team and make recommendations (both oral and written).

What You Will Need:

  • US Citizenship is required
  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Minimum THREE (3) years of experience in data science, data analytics, or data visualization

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience leading teams focused on developing automation, process improvement, and analytic solutions
  • Quality control experience including debugging and conducting Quality Assurance of new features and enhancements
  • Experience with data architecture and warehousing
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience developing new and re-designing existing processes to meet new and/or evolving business requirements
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction for specific projects or sub-tasks
  • Capability to manage multi-task projects
  • Experience analyzing and defining system requirements
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and present topics to diverse groups of functional and technical staff
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
