What You Will Do:

The Quantum Computing Consultant will support a team of skilled researchers to help drive advancements in quantum computing research for the Department of Defense.

As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic technical advisor to program managers at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), advising on advanced government-funded research and development programs. You’ll work with world-class scientists and engineers to provide strategic assessments of emerging technologies. You will maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders.

What You Will Need:

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE "SECRET" or higher-level clearance are preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • FIVE (5) or more years’ experience in quantum, quantum mechanics, quantum optics, and/or quantum information theory; including but not limited to:

    • Experience developing and characterizing experimental quantum devices in an R&D environment

    • Experience with photonic, superconducting, color center, and/or AMO (atomic, molecular, optical) quantum systems

    • Experience authoring, editing, and proof-reading technical papers, presentations, reports, and/or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences

    • Experience meeting target milestones, timelines, and budgets for projects/programs

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "TOP SECRET/SCI (TS/SCI)" Federal or DoD security clearance

  • Master’s degree with THREE (3) or more years of professional experience

  • Ph.D. degree in a STEM field with zero years of professional experience

  • Experience performing or supporting government-sponsored research activities

  • Experience developing or managing programs/projects related to quantum information, and/or quantum computing technologies

  • Experience leading and coordinating teams of different experience and technical backgrounds

  • Prior experience working with DARPA

  • Knowledge of standard nanofabrication techniques such as lithography, etching, or deposition

  • Knowledge of the DoD program/project development process

  • Ability to work on tasks quickly, independently, and collaboratively in a team atmosphere

  • Possession of outstanding attention to detail

  • Possession of clear and succinct oral, visual, and written communication skills
