The cybersecurity audit coordinator lead for a federal agency is a senior position responsible for The ISCM Program Lead provides expert-level leadership and oversight for the agency's Information Security Continuous Monitoring program. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maturing the ISCM strategy in accordance with federal laws and regulations, most notably the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) and guidance from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The lead ensures the continuous monitoring of security controls, provides risk-based insights to senior leadership, and drives risk mitigation activities.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop, maintain, and execute the agency's ISCM strategy, aligning it with enterprise-wide risk management goals.
  • Acquire and manage program resources, including budget, personnel, and necessary technologies.
  • Oversee the ISCM technical architecture, ensuring proper implementation of monitoring, detection, and reporting tools.
  • Ensure all ISCM activities adhere to federal cybersecurity standards and requirements, including FISMA, NIST Special Publications (especially SP 800-53 and SP 800-137), and DHS Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain program policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of security controls and overall compliance status.
  • Manage the monitoring of security data sources and provide organizational situational awareness.
  • Ensure that plans of actions and milestones (POA&Ms) are developed and tracked for identified vulnerabilities and audit findings.
  • Supervise and coordinate corrective measures for cybersecurity incidents and newly discovered vulnerabilities.
  • Provide expert guidance and knowledge transfer on compliance frameworks and continuous monitoring processes to security staff and system owners. 

What You Will Need:

  • An ACTIVE and CURRENT SECRET federal security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and NINE (9) years of progressive experience in federal cybersecurity, with a strong background in program management, compliance, and risk management OR a Master’s Degree and SEVEN (7) years of relevant experience.
  • In depth knowledge or experience with ISCM and/or CDM programs, as well as federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including NIST RMF and Special Publications (e.g., SP 800-53, SP 800-137).
  • Familiarity with compliance automation and reporting tools, such as Archer, Archangel, Splunk, or other Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms.
  • Team leadership or management experience within cyber security risk analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically in report writing.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Certified Authorization Professional (CAP), now part of the Certified in Governance, Risk and Compliance (CGRC)
  • Experience working for or with the Department of State.
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of external client-facing management and/or consulting for large firms

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$216,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
