What You Will Do:
Guidehouse is currently looking for a Rhapsody integration engineer to join our cross-cutting functional team supporting public health clients in our Health Interoperability practice. We are looking for this person to an expert in public health informatics as well as data integration using Rhapsody and other integration platforms, including but not limited to Mirth Connect, InterSystems, Palantir, etc. Candidates should be self-starters who bring with them a high level of ownership over their work, an enthusiastic attitude, and a collaborative mindset to support our efforts to sell and provide consulting solutions.
Client Delivery
- Design, develop, and maintain integration solutions using Rhapsody Integration Engine and potentially other integration platforms (including Mirth Connect).
- Collaborate with public health departments and other stakeholders to understand integration requirements and ensure seamless data exchange and integration of HL7 messages between health care providers and public health, especially for electronic case reports (eCR).
- Develop and implement HL7 (v2, v3, FHIR) message structures and workflows to support public health data modernization initiatives.
- Use HL7 test messages to validate and troubleshoot integration processes, ensuring data integrity and system reliability during integration and/or parsing processes.
- Provide technical support and training to public health end-users and internal team members.
- Document integration processes, configurations, and changes in accordance with organizational standards.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in HL7 messaging and public health informatics.
- Provide public health surveillance and interoperability subject matter expertise support across multiple client engagements; develop and review presentations, briefings, and memos, and reports.
- Identify client needs and develop solutions to address these needs.
- Prioritize and handle multiple tasks, researching and analyzing pertinent client, industry and technical matters, utilizing problem-solving skills, and communicating effectively in written and verbal formats to various audiences (including various levels of management and external clients) in a professional business environment.
- Scope and staff projects to meet client requirements.
- Develop work plans that reflect project scope and client expectations.
- Provide management oversight and development of work products from start to finish (from brainstorming and framework development to final edits and end-product).
Business Development
- Support growth of health data interoperability, exchange, and advanced analytics portfolio across public and commercial health practices
- Understand client business issues and match them to firm's health data capabilities; support identifying new revenue opportunities
Career Development and Mentorship
- Mentor employees within the practice field of activity.
- Provide subject matter support, guidance and coaching of team members
What You Will Need:
- US Citizenship is required
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Minimum FIVE (5) years of experience and expert proficiency in using Rhapsody Integration Engine and other platform solutions for developing and managing integration solutions.
- Experience working with HL7 standards and public health code/value sets, including HL7 v2.x, HL7 v3, and FHIR.
- Experience, including SQL and noSQL.
- Strong experience working with public health data exchange, data standards, and interoperability.
- Proven track record of using integration engines for health data for data mapping, routing, translation, and transformation with public health surveillance systems. These surveillance systems can include national notifiable disease, syndromic, vital statistics, interstate sharing, electronic case notification, or other similar use cases.
- Solid knowledge of integration protocols such as TCP/IP, MLLP, and web services (SOAP/REST).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective technical project management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Proficiency in using other health data integration platforms, including Mirth Connect, InterSystems, Palantir, etc. developing and managing integration solutions.
- Certification in HL7 standards or Rhapsody Integration Engine.
- Experience working with electronic case reporting (eCR) using CDA/c-CDA and FHIR formats for integration into systems and their associated HL7 implementation guides
- Experience with electronic disease surveillance systems or integrated surveillance systems (i.e., NEDSS-based system (NBS), Maven, Epi-Trax, etc.) and data intermediary platforms commonly used in public health (i.e., Rhapsody, Mirth, InterSystems, etc.)
- Experience integrating disparate public health data sources into central repository solutions, including data warehouses, data lakes, data lake-houses, etc.
- Understanding and experience with FHIR standards, APIs, and data exchange across healthcare
- Previous experience working in a public health or healthcare IT environment.
- Understanding and experience implementing Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML), including large-language models (LLM), in public health
- Managed projects to timeline, scope and budget on multiple teams simultaneously
- Experience working with code repositories and continuous integration (i.e. Git, Jenkins, etc.)
