What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for a Medical Laboratory Scientist that will independently provide clinical support services to The National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center (CC), Department of Transfusion Medicine (DTM), Transfusion Services Laboratory (TSL). TSL performs specialized and technically demanding serologic and molecular immunohematologic procedures for clinical diagnostic transfusion support and research purposes. The DTM includes an FDA-licensed collection facility where the TSL manufactures the majority of blood components transfused in the CC. Additionally, the role will provide transfusion medicine training for the various training programs sponsored by the CC, i.e. accredited Transfusion Medicine Fellowship and Specialists in Blood Banking programs.This is a full-time opportunity located in Bethesda, MD, with occasional on-call responsibilities as part of a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
Perform laboratory testing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
Perform compatibility cross-matching testing of donor and patient-recipient samples using automated and manual.
Independently resolve routine RBC blood group antibody problems and perform moderately complex testing in consultation with technical specialist.
Operate, calibrate, or maintain equipment used in quantitative or qualitative analysis, such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, or computer-controlled analyzers.
Manages blood inventory, arranging for import/export of necessary blood components.
Performs quality assurance functions in support of improving operations and methods.

What You Will Need:
Bachelor’s Degree
A minimum of THREE (3) years of experience in medical/health technologies and/or as a medical technician.
A minimum of THREE (3) years of blood bank experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Teams.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their public trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Master’s Degree preferred.
Accredited clinical laboratory science training program in laboratory science.
