What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for a Research Scientist to provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the within the National Institutes of Health.This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.
- Continuously optimize and implement protocols to enhance the differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into engraftable hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs).
- Conduct experiments to ectopically activate master transcription factors that are crucial for directing cell lineage determination, ensuring that the iPSCs differentiate into the desired cell type.
- Investigate and apply inhibitors of key epigenetic regulators during the early stages of differentiation to enhance the developmental pathway towards HSCs.
- Optimize the ectopic expression of homing receptors, with a focus on the CXCR4 chemokine receptor, to improve the homing efficiency and survival of HSCs post-transplantation.
- Analyze experimental data, maintain detailed records of experiments, and prepare reports or presentations summarizing findings and progress in refining the differentiation platform.
- Work collaboratively with other researchers and team members to integrate findings and refine strategies, ensuring alignment with overall research goals.
- Contribute to the identification of learning needs for the CMTB environment and provide learning opportunities for others.
- Recommend and implement approaches and solutions to problems that may arise.
- Collaborate with experts to analyze and report data as applicable.
- Draft manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
- Present findings at scientific meetings.
What You Will Need:
- Ph.D. and/or M.D.
- At least four (4) years of biology related research.
- Proficient in microbiology techniques, including media preparation, bacteria cultivation, and bioreactor setup.
- Experience in enzyme production for industrial applications, demonstrating expertise in bioprocess engineering.
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research and analytic methods.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Experience with tools such as SAS and R is preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong time management and organizational skills
