What You Will Do:
We are searching for a Scientist to support research at the Center for Alzherimer’s and Related Dementias.This includes sample isolation, cell culture work, new protocol development, data analysis, and writing. This is a full-time opportunity located in Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities:
Provide scientific and technical expertise to all visiting fellows, post-docs, and technicians.
Train staff on the proper usage of equipment.
Train staff in a wide variety of techniques used in the laboratory.
Search existing literature for new and/or relevant techniques.
Assist the lab staff in the creation and preparation of a variety of documents required by the lab’s scientific activities.
Evaluate and incorporate new scientific techniques, instruments, and software into standard operating procedures to advance laboratory research capabilities.
Design, direct, and conduct high‑priority research experiments and studies requiring broad expertise in scientific theories, principles, and emerging methodologies relevant to human health.
Propose, initiate, and lead novel research projects based on scientific merit, innovation, and relevance, including development of new targets and experimental approaches.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to laboratory staff by supporting assay design, method development, data interpretation, and troubleshooting of complex experiments.
Maintain oversight of laboratory equipment, facilities, and resources by managing acquisition, calibration, maintenance, utilization, and staff training to ensure operational readiness.
Evaluate, analyze, and interpret experimental and bioinformatics data; maintain comprehensive electronic laboratory records; and prepare technical reports, manuscripts, and other scientific documentation.
Communicate research findings through internal briefings, external presentations, posters, and peer‑reviewed publications; collaborate with investigators and stakeholders to disseminate results at regional and national scientific meetings.
What You Will Need:
Master’s degree
A minimum of THREE (3) years of experience in a science-related field.
Experience working in a research laboratory environment
Biosafety Level 2 (BSL 2) certification
Experience with Western Blotting
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their public trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred
