What You Will Do:
The Health Information Management Assistant Director plans, develops and manages activities, workload and special projects for the HIM Department. Meets the standards set by the hospital and Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare organizations (JCAHO).
Develops policies and procedures for the standardization, control and regulated use of medical information and its availability to users. Ensures compliance with all applicable internal and external standards and regulations. Adheres to national member organization standards relative to best practice. Develops goals for assigned area of responsibility.
Ensures the availability of core measure data for Joint Commission. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical reports; analyzes data to determine if any corrective actions are required.
Manages staff including, but not limited to, staff selection, scheduling, evaluation and disciplinary counseling. Ensures that all employee training needs are met. Recommend promotions.
Develops and monitors strategic operating goals, objectives and budget. Reports operational performance, justification and/or corrective action.
Engages in and demonstrates self-development in clinical, professional and managerial areas.
Represents the department in hospital and/or health system meetings as requested by the Director.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
What You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree in health information management, or Health Informatics, or related field (relevant experience may be substituted for formal education or advanced degree)
Minimum of 10 years of related experience
RHIA or RHIT Certification by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
What Would Be Nice to Have:
Experience as an HIM Associate Director or HIM Director at an academic institution
Experience in implementing a new EHR
Leadership skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to problem solve
Ability to train others
Process improvement and quality skills
