What You Will Do:

The Energy Providers practice helps utilities and energy companies lead the way in an industry undergoing rapid transformation. As companies respond to the requirements for rapidly growing demand, increased reliability, and improved resilience, they need to balance initiatives against energy costs and customer affordability.   As AI-driven data centers surge in energy demand and new policies reshape the landscape, utilities face a complex and evolving environment. Our practice empowers clients to embrace new business models and leverage emerging technologies to upgrade operations, drive efficiency, and ensure compliance, all while enhancing resilience and capturing market opportunities. 

Our CEI Customer Programs team provides comprehensive and customer-centric solutions for clean energy programs including energy efficiency, demand response, electrification, energy storage, renewable energy, and sustainability programs. We help our clients visualize and identify market opportunities for clean energy programs and then work with them to build and strengthen those programs. 

As a Consultant, you will work alongside experienced professionals delivering consulting projects, both at client sites and within Guidehouse offices to deliver important engagements that drive tangible outcomes for our clients.  A key function of a Consultant’s role is to create and present high-quality deliverables that support essential project workstreams. We partner with our clients to design innovative programs, evaluate and optimize program contributions towards climate, energy, and other goals, and continuously improve the program experience for customers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver insights and recommendations and prepare and present reports to stakeholders.  You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to drive impactful solutions for our clients.

Key responsibilities for this position may include

  • Contributing to innovative problem-solving to drive outcomes for clients, leveraging cutting-edge methodologies and tools 
  • Analyzing industry market data with a focus on how utility customers interact with and experience energy-related technologies and programs, providing actionable insights  
  • Performing comprehensive assessments of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies through engineering analysis, energy modeling, and field work, ensuring accuracy and reliability 
  • Conducting complex technical and economic analyses, create detailed spreadsheets, and manage projects/tasks efficiently 
  • Applying problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify issues, develop solutions, and make informed decisions that align with client goals 
  • Creatively develop visually compelling and human-centric insights and recommendations 
  • Preparing detailed, high-quality reports, presentations, and other documentation for client deliverables to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and senior team members 
  • Effectively and regularly engaging with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and communicate solutions, fostering strong relationships 
  • Working collaboratively with team members, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a positive team environment that encourages growth and innovation 
  • Pursuing ongoing professional development, including attending training sessions, obtaining relevant certifications, and staying updated on industry trends and best practices 
  • Assisting in project management tasks, such as scheduling meetings, tracking project timelines, and ensuring deliverables are completed on time

What You Will Need

  • Applicants must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident 
  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree (Must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in 2025 and graduate by Fall of 2026) 
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 0 years  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment 
  • Curiosity about the energy industry and a desire to make a tangible impact through consulting work 
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines 
  • Ability to travel 
  • Ability to work onsite in a core Guidehouse Office or Client Office location 


What Would Be Nice To Have

  • Degree/Majors Preferred: Engineering, Econometrics, Business, Social or Political Science, Environmental Studies, and/or related majors 
  • Strong interest and/or experience in clean energy, energy efficiency, and/or energy related sustainability 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel 
  • Experience conducting primary and secondary research such as surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus groups 
  • Experience working in teams to produce high-impact work products, reports, and other deliverables in a fast-paced environment 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI technology tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Notation AI, Perplexity AI, etc.

The annual salary range for this position is $51,000.00-$85,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
