What You Will Do:-

1. *Team Management*: Supervises and guides a team of medical coders, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality coding output.

2. *Process Improvement*: Identifies areas for process improvement and implements changes to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality.

3. *Resource Allocation*: Manages resource allocation, including staffing, equipment, and software, to ensure optimal utilization.

4. *Quality Assurance*: Develops and implements quality assurance processes to ensure accurate and compliant coding.

5. *Compliance*: Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA, ICD-10, and CPT coding guidelines.

6. *Audit and Compliance*: Conducts internal audits to ensure compliance with coding standards and regulatory requirements.

7. *Productivity Management*: Monitors and manages team productivity, ensuring that coding volumes and quality meet expectations. Compiles and analyzes monthly productivity, quality, and DNFB (Discharged Not Final Billed) metrics, creating dashboards to report to leadership.

8. *Financial Management*: Assists in managing departmental finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking.

9. *Performance Metrics*: Develops and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team performance and identify areas for improvement.

10. *Stakeholder Communication*: Communicates with stakeholders, including physicians, administrators, and other departments, to ensure seamless coding operations.

11. *Interdepartmental Collaboration*: Collaborates with other departments, such as Health Information Management (HIM) and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), to ensure accurate and complete coding.

12. *Team Communication*: Fosters open communication within the team, encouraging feedback, suggestions, and concerns.

13. *Training and Education*: Develops and implements training programs to ensure coders are up-to-date on coding guidelines, regulations, and industry developments.

14. *Professional Development*: Encourages and supports professional development opportunities for team members, such as certifications, workshops, and conferences.

15. *Risk Management*: Identifies and mitigates risks associated with coding operations, such as data breaches or compliance issues.

16. *Special Projects*: Leads or participates in special projects, such as coding audits, process improvements, or system implementations.

17. *Industry Developments*: Stays current with industry developments, such as coding updates, regulatory changes, and emerging trends.

What You Will Need:-

  • Minimum Experience: 3–5+ years of professional / hospital and proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and E/M coding.
  • With at least 1–2 years in a lead, supervisory role and strong auditing skills. Proficiency in EMR systems, Encoder software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word).
  • Should be AAPC certified
  • Incident management and problem management experience highly desired. Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills required.
  • Leadership/supervision
  • Flexibility, time management, prioritization, and solid documentation skills required
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


What Would Be Nice To Have:-

  • Ability to work with data analytics tools for reporting including AI
  • Proficiency in working EPIC domain
  • Auditing Observation, Surgery records.
