Senior Engineer - Industrial Decarbonization

What You Will Do

  • Conduct virtual or onsite energy audits in industrial facilities, focusing on textile, apparel, and footwear sectors.
  • Collect, analyze, and model energy and process data to identify emission reduction opportunities and support decarbonization proposals.
  • Develop and maintain calculation models and workbooks for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and process upgrades.
  • Conduct energy and project economics/financial analysis and calculate financial KPIs and develop graphical representations for finance team audience (e.g. CFO or treasury).
  • Collaboration with machinery manufacturers and vendors in India, Bangladesh or other Southeast Asia countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia – analyzing their project proposals, clarifying additional data requests, facilitating their engagement with factories and conducting due diligence on their proposals.
  • Research and maintain a list of measures and technologies including thermal, electrical energy efficiency, waste heat recovery, energy upgrades, renewable energy, fuel-switching and electrification, process machinery upgrades, circular strategies, low-carbon materials etc.
  • Characterize their emission reduction potential, installation costs, operations and maintenance costs and performance factors based on research and primary information from machinery manufacturers
  • Standardize and update assumptions for calculations (e.g., emission factors, conversion factors) using public and paid sources.
  • Analyse industry platforms and initiatives supporting data sharing and decarbonization.
  • Translate technical findings into actionable business insights for clients and internal teams.
  • Support the development of proposals and presentations for multinational clients and internal stakeholders.

What You Will Need

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial decarbonisation, energy management, or a related engineering field (ideally within textile, footwear, or apparel).
  • Master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, physics, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Index Match, Pivot Tables, Regressions, Macros) and skilled with PowerPoint and other MS Office tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience managing and interpreting large datasets.
  • Superior team-oriented, interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed organizational and management skills (e.g., ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness)
  • Ability to work overtime hours as needed to maintain project schedules
  • Experience coordinating with subcontractors and external partners, particularly in Southeast Asia (e.g., Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia).
  • Familiarity with the structure of global textile supply chains, including clusters, material flows, and key stakeholders (e.g., suppliers, brands, solution providers).
  • Experience with fibre-to-fabric processes (spinning, knitting, weaving), wet processing (dyeing, printing, finishing), and/or fabric manufacturing (cutting, sewing).
  • Ability to quantify and analyze water, energy, and chemical usage in textile processes and propose reduction strategies through optimization or advanced technologies.
  • Understanding of industry platforms and collaborative initiatives driving decarbonization and sustainability in the textile sector.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams and geographies.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work with attention to detail and minimal need for quality control.

What Would Be Nice To Have

  • Certified Energy Manager or Auditor (CEM, CEA) certification.
  • Experience with application programming (e.g., R, Python) and interfacing with AI tools.
  • Proficiency in Southeast Asian languages.
  • Knowledge of both traditional and sustainable textile materials and fibres.
  • Established connections with textile brands, factories, or machinery vendors.
  • Proven extracurricular activities and/or international experience aligned with the position.
