What You Will Do:

The Strategy & Economics team within Guidehouse’s State and Local Government practice is a group of mission-driven individuals working with our clients to create a positive impact on society and communities. Our engagements span a variety of disciplines and policy areas, including public sector organizational strategy, broadband and digital equity, economic and workforce development, smart cities, industrial policy, infrastructure strategy, and public sector funding.

We are recruiting for Public Sector Strategy Consultants to join our State and Local Government practice in Los Angeles, CA, Arlington, VA, or New York, NY. You will work with state, county and municipal level administrations, agencies, and departments on a range of strategy and policy issues affecting the social, environmental, and economic vibrancy of our communities. Your role will be working as part of a larger engagement team to understand an unstructured client problem, conduct market analysis and peer research, develop a solution framework for how the client can address the problem in collaboration with a wider ecosystem of public, private, and institutional stakeholders, and provide the business case for tactical recommendations. What You Will Need:

Qualifications Required:

- Relevant internship experience and/or academic courses related to: Public Policy, Government, Urban Policy, Political/Social Science, Information Systems, Operational Research, Management, Economics/Econometrics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Systems Engineering, and/or related fields.

- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree (Must graduate from an accredited degree program between Fall of 2025 and Summer of 2026)

- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the country

- No current or future sponsorship is available for this position

- Strong logical reasoning, critical thinking, and data analysis skills

- Outstanding attention to detail

- Strong verbal communication and narrative development skills, with the ability

to summarize and convey key insights from analyses to senior audiences

- High degree of comfort working in unstructured situations and ability to

maintain poise and maturity while working under pressure

- Ability to be self-directed, anticipatory, and responsive

- Collegial team player who can work within a small, motivated team of diverse

consulting professionals

What Would Be Nice To Have:

- Functional experience in at least one of the following areas desired, but not required:

- Proficiency with data analytics, developing cost-benefit and related models,

and familiarity using multiple public datasets including BLS, BEA, ACS, and

other geographically-defined socioeconomic datasets.

- Proficiency with input-output or general equilibrium economic modelling tools

such as Esmi, IMPLAN, or REMI.

- Proficiency with Stata, R, Python, and other programming languages.

- Proficiency with data visualization and mapping techniques, such as with

Tableau or ArcGIS.

The annual salary range for this position is $65,000.00-$108,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
