What You Will Do:

Client Relationship Management & Engagement Delivery

  • Provide executive oversight of a portfolio of complex, high-visibility client engagements, ensuring all contractual, financial, and delivery commitments are met or exceeded. 

  • Set strategic direction for client engagements, guiding teams on overall approach, risk posture, and long-term delivery sustainability. 

  • Establish and enforce firm-wide quality standards, ensuring consistently exceptional work products across engagements. 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives across federal civilian agencies — specifically the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, Department of Labor, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Universal Service Administrative Company — at the bureau, program, and enterprise levels. 

  • Define, scale, and institutionalize best practices across accounts, teams, and offerings. 

  • Ensure enterprise-level compliance with contractual, regulatory, and internal policy requirements. 

  • Own overall portfolio financial performance, including margin management, revenue growth, and long-term account health. 


Business Development

  • Set and execute account growth strategies leveraging deep executive relationships and firm-wide capabilities. 

  • Lead and oversee priority new business pursuits across the full federal sales lifecycle, serving as executive sponsor for major opportunities. 

  • Own senior-level client engagement, including executive check ins, long-range account visioning, and alignment to agency strategic priorities. 

  • Drive sustained growth across accounts by shaping demand, influencing client strategy, and aligning Guidehouse investments to agency missions. 

  • Establish and govern portfolio-wide pipeline health, forecasting accuracy, and growth planning discipline. 

  • Orchestrate cross functional leadership (delivery, BD, partners, and SMEs) to execute account strategies and win new work. 

  • Anticipate market, policy, and funding shifts to proactively position offerings and solutions. 

  • Provide oversight and execute capture strategy, including competitor positioning, win themes, teaming decisions, and solution architecture. 

  • Be personally accountable for driving at $7-10M+ in annual new business growth for the firm. 


Consulting Staff Leadership

  • Provide senior leadership and mentorship to Associate Directors and engagement leads across the portfolio. 

  • Champion leadership development, succession planning, recruitment, and long-term talent retention. 

  • Set expectations for onboarding, training, and performance management across teams. 

  • Shape and model a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative culture across the practice. 


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, engineering, communications, technology, or a related field. 

  • Minimum of 10 years of total professional experience (industry, research, or consulting), excluding internships, part time roles, co-ops, fellowships, and academic research. 

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience leading large-scale or multi-engagement consulting portfolios with federal agencies or similar organizations. 

  • Established executive-level relationships across federal civilian agencies (e.g., USDA, GSA, Department of Labor, HUD, OPM, USAC, Commerce). 

  • Demonstrated success owning and scaling federal government business development portfolios with sustained revenue growth. 

  • Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams across complex programs and accounts. 

  • Advanced data literacy and comfort using analytics to drive portfolio strategy, investment decisions, and performance management. 

  • Experience leading strategic partnerships with technology providers, cloud platforms, or system integrators. 

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal "PUBLIC TRUST"; US Citizenship restrictions apply.

  • This hybrid position role may require up to 3-5 days at the Guidehouse Tysons or Arlington, VA Office.  

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Recognized thought leadership (e.g., published articles, speaking engagements, industry panels). 

  • Advanced professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Agile/Scrum, CCMP). 

  • Experience launching, scaling, and governing major federal growth platforms or practices. 

  • Deep familiarity with major federal contract vehicles (e.g., OASIS+, Alliant, MAS, CIO SP, or agency specific BPAs).
