What You Will Do:
The API Engineer will work closely with clients, solutions architects and technical/functional leads across Guidehouse digital teams and market segments to support client projects and provide solutions for growth efforts and capabilities build out.
Serve as a key member of integration team to support technical challenges/demos, building innovative API solution prototypes using modern API architectures and integration technologies.
API design and development: Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure APIs using RESTful principles and modern API gateway patterns to facilitate seamless integration between enterprise systems.
Work collaboratively with product managers, software developers, security specialists, platform engineers, solution architects, and business stakeholders to design, build, test, and deploy high-value, operationally resilient API products that satisfy functional and non-functional requirements.
Facilitate seamless integration between loan platforms (LoanIQ, AFSVision) and other enterprise systems including customer portals, online banking platforms, risk management systems, and external partner systems using APIs.
Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation for internal and external developers, including information on endpoints, request/response formats, authentication, and error handling.
Develop and execute unit, integration, and performance tests for APIs to ensure functionality, reliability, and security.
What You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree. Additional Four (4) years of experience will be needed in lieu of degree
US Citizen, Green Card Holder, Green Card – EAD
4-6 years of prior relevant experience in API development, configuration, testing, and implementation
3+ years of experience with financial services platforms and loan management systems (LoanIQ, AFSVision preferred)
Proven ability to work collaboratively with team members and contribute to solving integration and API challenges.
Proven ability to develop API solutions and use technical skills to implement and test API integrations effectively.
An understanding of the Agile and Scaled Agile practices and principles. Must be able to work within Agile frameworks and contribute to software development with agility.
Technical Requirements:
Strong programming skills in languages commonly used for API development including:
Programming Languages: Python, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, C#
API Technologies: RESTful API design principles, gRPC
API Frameworks: Spring Boot, Express.js, FastAPI, ASP.NET Core
Authentication & Authorization: OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, SAML, OpenID Connect
API Gateway Solutions: AWS API Gateway or Azure API Management, or Apigee
Documentation Tools: Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, Insomnia, API Blueprint
Testing Tools: Postman, SoapUI, JMeter, REST Assured, Newman
Message Formats: JSON, XML, Avro, Protocol Buffers
Experience with RESTful API design principles and best practices, including proper HTTP status codes, versioning strategies, and error handling patterns.
Familiarity with API lifecycle management, including design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and deprecation strategies.
Proficiency delivering API solutions using contemporary CI/CD pipeline tooling and ability to continuously collaborate with development, operations, and security (DevSecOps) team members to deliver secure and operationally resilient API products.
This is a hands-on API engineering position and requires the ability to build and deploy API solutions and integration components.
Ability to design, build, test, and deploy API products and integration solutions on cloud platforms.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with an ability to handle customer requirements and engineer API solutions.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Certifications such as AWS Certified Developer – Amazon Web Services Or Azure Developer Associate or MuleSoft Certified Developer
Additional Technologies such as Event-driven architecture and async messaging (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ) , Microservices architecture patterns
API security testing and vulnerability assessment
Solutions architecture support for technical volumes of proposals and white papers for RFPs/RFIs and thought leadership initiatives.
