Integration Testers

What You Will Do:

  • Design, develop, and execute integration test plans, test cases, and test scripts.

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and other QA team members to understand integration points and requirements.

  • Perform end-to-end testing of software systems, APIs, and third-party integrations.

  • Identify, document, and track defects using issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA).

  • Validate data flow and system interactions across multiple platforms.

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices in integration testing.

  • Provide feedback and recommendations for improving system architecture and integration design.


What You Will Need:

  • US Citizenship is required.

  • Must have pre-existing IRS clearance.

  • Must be able to support an eastern time zone work schedule (8am-5pm).

  • If within commuting distance to a Guidehouse or IRS office, you will be asked to work from one of those facilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree. Additional Four (4) expedience can be used in lieu of degree.

  • At least 2-4 years of experience in software testing, with a focus on integration testing.

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.

  • Experience with testing tools like – Jmeter, Postman, SoapUI, Selenium, Cucumber, and other testing frameworks

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab).

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) is a plus.

  • Experience with Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server for data-driven testing.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility testing standards and tools (e.g., JAWS, ZoomText).

  • Experience supporting test automation initiatives and contributing to automation frameworks.

  • Familiarity with performance testing and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AIX, OEM).

  • Exposure to enterprise scheduling tools such as Control-M or OpCon.

  • Experience with IBM Rational ELM suite preferred

  • Experience with IRS-specific documentation standards and test lifecycle artifacts

  • Familiarity with IRS internal tools and test management systems

  • Familiarity with IRS security policies, IRM standards, and SBU data compliance

  • Experience with ETL tools like Informatica and data masking technologies.

Performance Testers

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and execute complex testing efforts across enterprise systems.

  • Ensure that mission-critical applications meet rigorous standards for functionality, performance, security, and accessibility.

  • Prepare and execute test plans, automate test cases, document results, and participate in peer reviews and defect resolution.

  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, provide training and knowledge transfer to team members, and support the creation of desk instructions and process documentation.

  • This role typically reports to a project or program manager and may also receive direction from technical leads or quality assurance supervisors. You will work independently under general guidance and may coordinate or mentor other testers as needed. I

  • In this role, you will work with a broad range of technologies including IBM Rational tools (ETM, RFT, RPT, DNG, EWM), Selenium, JMeter, LoadRunner, Informatica, Control-M, and platforms such as Windows, Linux, UNIX, and mainframe environments. Familiarity with databases like Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, and tools supporting Agile and DevOps practices is essential.

  • Experience evaluating, recommending, and implementing automated test tools and strategies.

  • Proficiency in designing, implementing, and executing test and evaluation procedures to ensure system requirements are met.

  • Ability to develop, maintain, and upgrade automated test scripts and testing architectures.

  • Strong skills in writing, executing, and reporting on system test cases and test results.

  • Experience analyzing test cases and providing regular progress reports.

  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert in support of complex software/hardware testing requirements.

  • Experience participating in all phases of risk management assessments and software/hardware development, with emphasis on user requirements analysis, test design, and tool selection.

  • Familiarity with enterprise testing tools such as IBM Rational ETM, RFT, RPT, and EWM.

  • Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, JMeter, LoadRunner, SOAPUI, and Parasoft.

  • Working knowledge of mainframe environments (e.g., IBM z/OS, Unisys), JCL, and scripting.

  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, and Greenplum.

  • Ability to work across multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Solaris.

  • Understanding of Agile, SDLC, and test lifecycle methodologies. 

  • Enterprise Testing Leadership: Leads test strategy, planning, and execution across complex systems.

  • Test Automation Strategy: Designs and implements automation frameworks and CI/CD integration.

  • Performance &Accessibility Testing: Experience in load testing, stress testing,

  • Tool Mastery: Advanced use of IBM Rational Suite, LoadRunner, Control-M, Informatica, and test data management tools.

  • Agile & DevOps Integration: Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps workflows.

  • Risk & Quality Management: Identifies risks, ensures compliance, and drives continuous quality improvement.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Interfaces with technical and non-technical stakeholders to align testing with business goals.

  • Mentorship & Training: Provides guidance and training.


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience supporting test automation initiatives that streamline manual testing processes and increase test coverage.

  • Exposure to enterprise scheduling and orchestration tools such as Control-M or OpCon.

  • Experience with ETL tools like Informatica and data masking technologies (e.g., IBM Infosphere Optim).

  • Ability to contribute to test automation strategy, including framework design and tool evaluation.

  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.

  • Strong documentation skills and experience contributing to standard operating procedures, training materials, and knowledge transfer.

Functional Testers

What You Will Do:

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive functional test plans, test cases, and test scripts for software applications and systems

  • Perform thorough functional testing including unit testing, system testing, user acceptance testing, and regression testing

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, integration testers, and other QA team members to understand functional requirements and acceptance criteria

  • Validate that software applications meet specified functional requirements and business objectives

  • Execute manual and automated functional tests across various platforms and environments

  • Identify, document, and track functional defects using issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail)

  • Participate in requirements review sessions to ensure testability and completeness of functional specifications

  • Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and support continuous improvement initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices in functional testing

  • Provide feedback and recommendations for improving application functionality and user experience

  • Support testing automation initiatives and contribute to functional automation frameworks

  • Deep understanding of functional testing principles, test design techniques, and validation methodologies

  • Experience in creating comprehensive test cases, test scenarios, and test data management

  • Ability to analyze functional requirements and translate them into effective test strategies

  • Understanding of defect lifecycle, root cause analysis, and quality metrics and familiarity with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Azure DevOps)

  • Experience with database testing and SQL queries for data validation

  • Knowledge of web application testing, including cross-browser and responsive design testing

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ensure deliverables meet client standards for accuracy, clarity, timelines and compliance.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience with API functional testing using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or REST Assured

  • Familiarity with performance testing concepts and tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner)

  • Understanding of security testing practices and functional security validation

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps testing practices

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for test automation

  • Familiarity with enterprise scheduling tools such as Control-M or OpCon

The annual salary range for this position is $51,000.00-$85,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
