This role is responsible for executing analytical efforts across a diverse portfolio of internal and external projects ranging from rapid-turnaround analyses to complex, long-term efforts supporting Defense Health Agency (DHA) strategic priorities. The analyst serves as a connector across MHS directorates, DHA leadership, and external partners to advance data-driven decision-making and modernize revenue cycle operations. Success in this role requires deep familiarity with the MHS data ecosystem, including MHS GENESIS, Health Data Intelligence (HDI), Discern Analytics, Bulk Data Extract (BDE), M2, FMIS, SQLFarm, and other MHS Information Platform (MIP) tools. The analyst will develop actionable insights, ensure audit-readiness, and support enterprise performance management across Revenue Cycle initiatives. This position proactively identifies operational challenges, performs root-cause analyses, and supports the design of innovative, data-informed solutions to strengthen revenue cycle performance across the MHS while independently managing project-level tasks and deliverables.

The ideal candidate combines advanced technical skills (Vertica SQL, analytics, database engineering) with deep domain expertise in healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM). This analyst will play a critical role in supporting DHA leadership by developing reporting capabilities across MHS Data Systems and collaborating across MHS directorates and stakeholders.

Responsibilities of this role are as follows, to include but not limited to:

  • Manage project-level tasks and workflows across internal and external revenue cycle data initiatives.

  • Conduct analysis of large, complex data sets across various tools and platforms (HDI, Discern Visual Developer, SQL, Python, etc.).

  • Serve as a key point-of-contact for leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners on data-related project efforts.

  • Develop dashboards and reports (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and present findings to senior leadership, DHA directorates, and diverse stakeholders.

  • Translate analytical outputs into clear narratives and visualizations to inform decision-making and support leadership briefings.

  • Balance ad hoc and recurring analysis requests in a fast-paced environment.

  • Manage a portfolio of project-specific analytical efforts, including those supporting Financial Operations and cross-functional MHS data initiatives.

  • Support the development of work products, deliverables, and analytical documentation.

What You Will Need:

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE "SECRET" or higher-level clearance are preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics or a related field.

  • THREE (3) or more years of MHS data analytics experience or other relevant experience.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience analyzing military health data or working with MHS-specific systems.

  • Knowledge of Revenue Cycle operations, processes, and KPIs.

  • Knowledge of the MHS data ecosystem, including MHS GENESIS and the MHS Information Platform (MIP).

  • Experience working with MHS data tools such as BDE, M2, FMIS, SQLFarm, or similar platforms.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Experience performing advanced Excel functions (e.g., Power Query).

  • Experience developing and maintaining dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik).

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a consultancy mindset.

  • Ability to develop strong team and client relationships.

  • Experience analyzing medical and/or pharmacy claims data.

  • Programming experience with SAS, R, Python, or SQL.

  • Assist in shaping analyses for legislative requirements or priority RCMI initiatives; validate metrics, conduct trend analysis, and identify anomalies.

  • Support enterprise standards, audit-readiness documentation, and analytical frameworks related to RCMI operations.

  • Perform root-cause analyses to identify data inconsistencies, ETL challenges, and operational issues impacting revenue cycle performance.

  • Collaborate with MHS stakeholders to identify modernization opportunities, operational gaps, and innovation pathways leveraging emerging data capabilities.

  • Work across MHS data systems, including BDE, M2, FMIS, SQLFarm, and other MIP tools, to extract, transform, and validate data for enterprise analyses.

  • Client-facing experience in a consulting environment.

  • Master’s degree in statistics, economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, data analytics, data science, or related field.

  • Experience with statistical modeling techniques (e.g., generalized linear models, difference-in-differences, logistic regression).

  • Experience with machine learning, RPA implementation, or emerging technology integration in federal environments.

The annual salary range for this position is $113,000.00-$188,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
