The State and Local Government – West team is seeking candidates to join our Energy team to help state and regional energy agencies advance energy policy goals such as decarbonization, energy technology innovation, resiliency, reliability, affordability, and supporting the interests of energy consumers.

As a Consultant you will work alongside experienced professionals delivering consulting projects, both at client sites and within Guidehouse offices to deliver important engagements that drive tangible outcomes for our clients. A key function of a consultant’s role is to create and present high-quality deliverables that support essential project workstreams. You will engage in research, analysis, documentation, and client-facing activities as part of a collaborative delivery team. You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to drive impactful solutions for our clients.

What You Will Do:

  • Contributing to innovative problem-solving to drive outcomes for clients, leveraging cutting-edge methodologies and tools
  • Conducting comprehensive research and analysis to support project recommendations and solutions, inform strategic decisions, and develop actionable insights. This may include data collection, market research and analysis, benchmarking, and economic modeling
  • Applying problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify issues, develop solutions, and make informed decisions that align with client goals
  • Preparing detailed, high-quality reports, presentations, and other documentation for client deliverables to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and senior team members
  • Effectively and regularly engaging with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and communicate solutions, fostering strong relationships
  • Working collaboratively with team members, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a positive team environment that encourages growth and innovation
  • Pursuing ongoing professional development, including attending training sessions, obtaining relevant certifications, and staying updated on industry trends and best practices
  • Assisting in project management tasks, such as scheduling meetings, tracking project timelines, and ensuring deliverables are completed on time
  • Driving and demonstrating our cultural values through exemplary leadership behavior, people-first approaches, and cultivation of an inclusive, diverse, and safe environment


What You Will Need:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 1+ (ONE) years of work experience
  • Demonstrated curiosity about the energy industry and a desire to make a tangible impact through consulting work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to produce high-impact work products, reports, and other deliverables in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work onsite in a core Guidehouse Office or Client Office location


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Preferable - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics or Economics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, R, Python
  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data

The annual salary range for this position is $74,000.00-$124,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
