What You Will Do:

Guidehouse supports the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) to execute its mission to ensure our nation has the safest, most efficient and modern transportation system in the world. We are searching for a Managing Consultant to help clients execute against their mission effectively and efficiently and work collaboratively with our clients to help them work through their most pressing technically complex challenges. From implementing new policies to standardizing operations across offices, we work side-by-side with government leaders to solve important problems. We are seeking a consultant with strong critical thinking skills, experience in client program support, and a desire to manage clients and engagement teams while coaching and mentoring junior consultants. This role will maintain responsibility for client engagement, solution implementation, and critical problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in the development of high-quality client deliverables that meet client requirements, setting high standards of quality and timely delivery

  • Develop detailed project schedules to monitor performance

  • Identify and manage project risks and issues

  • Develop detailed status reports for individual programs

  • Work with diverse stakeholders to fully understand business requirements and interdependencies

  • Work with stakeholders to help keep projects on-time and within budget

  • Lead the facilitation of client meetings, work groups, or interviews

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and quality assurance to junior staff


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Engineering, Transportation, Data Analytics, or related field.

  • 5–7+ years of experience in public-sector consulting or transit safety/oversight, with at least 3 years supporting federal programs or transit agencies.

  • Strong project management and stakeholder facilitation skills.

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.

  • Ability to thrive in client service and team-based environments, especially when tackling unstructured problems

  • Detail-oriented, flexible, proactive, and able to prioritize tasks to align with changing client needs and respond to ad-hoc requests

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship restrictions apply

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • This hybrid position role may require up to 3-5 days on-site at the Client's office

  • This position is open to candidates who will reside within 50 of the DC Area

    What Would Be Nice To Have:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in engineering, planning, policy, or a transportation discipline

    • Professional Engineer license, AICP certification, or EIT certification

    • PMP, CSM, or Lean Six Sigma certification

    • Experience with process reengineering or standard operating procedure development and knowledge management in federal environments (e.g., internal review workflows).

    • Proficiency with Google Workspace and technology suite, including Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets

    • Experience working with federal, state, or local transportation organizations

    • Experience in transportation safety or developing safety action plans

    The annual salary range for this position is $113,000.00-$188,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
